How it affects the storyby Andrew Head
Greetings folks, Andrew Head here again. Today I am going to talk about something near and dear to me in Writing, and in Roleplaying, and that is Character Development.
Character Development is that mystical change that every character goes through on his journey through his life. It's not just applicable to books, or games, it happens to us in real life. Yes, us, people, humans. We experience character development
Take the main character in my novel. He has quite a bit of character development to go through. Not all of it is good either. Pain and Toil can do as much for a character's development as happiness and sunshine, and I find that it makes for a much better story anyways. So, as I was saying My character starts off as your every day average geek. And by geek, I mean the overlook nerd with glasses that the ladies avoid. During the course of the first novel, his experiences turn him from that shy guy geek to a take charge guy in charge of a starship full of sexy warriors ready to take on anything. As the story further he finds out what is important to him, and just how far he is willing to go to protect it. Some of the results even come to shock him as his crew warms up to him, and becomes his family. The situations that he and they are put through make them wise beyond their age, and temper him like a red hot forged blade lowered into the quench tank till his resolve is harder than steeel.
In my next blog next week I will talk about The Big Demo Module I am writing and running for Mongoose Publishing at GENCON.
Anyways, that all for now. I'll catch you on the flip side.
